Flutes, multiple saxophones, combined with a full percussion section-combining the influences of Afro-Cuban Latin Jazz, the organicism of Sun-Ra and Pharaoh Sanders-Grant Lawrence has created an ensemble that inspires-Diversions, Passion Found. 
Diversions offers us new insights into to traditional jazz realms of yesterday while combining modern production value perspectives on today.

Surrounded by international artists-musicians, Earl Lawrence offers us Diversions, six-piece modern jazz ensemble designed to convey inspiration and serve the international community through public performance, studio creations, and commissioned installations.

Earl Lawrence-Artistic Director
Tenor and Soprano Saxophones, Contrabass Flute, Flute.

Earl Lawrence holds a B.M. Degree in Applied Flute from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee and a Masters of Music Degree in Music Composition from the Boston Conservatory of Music.

Earl began his career as a soloist with The Orchestrated Crowd (TOC), appearing with such jazz greats as Quincy Jones and the late Duke Ellington.

Mr. Earl Grant Lawrence is a member of the Metropolitan Flute Orchestra at the New England Conservatory of Music and plays the Contrabass flute, touring France, Ireland, Germany, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Caroline N'Diaye
Tenor Saxophone

Caroline received her education in Music Education at University of Massachusetts.

For the past 25 years, Caroline has performed as a saxophonist in World Music Venues, such as Nigerian Afro-Pop, Cuban Music, Cumbia, Merengue, and Jazz.

Her passion for the drums culminated in a trip to Africa. In 1993, she traveled to Senegal West Africa to study West African drumming and dance.

Wain Jonze
Guitar

Over the past 30 years Wain and has recorded, traveled and/or performed with the Walter Beasley Band, Freda Battle, Yolanda Adams, Clarence Powell, Backstreet Boys/Krystal Harris, Andre Ward, Eric Roberson, Jaguar Wright, Kindred the Family Soul to name a few.

Wayne sees performing as quite an experience and is grateful that he he is able to do so. "The one thing I have learned in my musical travels (which range from dates around the U.S. to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe) is that it is not about me, but the content relationship between those on stage and relationship between those on stage and in the audience. Without that magical connection there is no point to music. It's a blessing to have the opportunity and an obligation to try to bless with it".

Wain earned a music degree from U. Mass Boston and Masters in Education from Lesley College.

Adonis Martin

Adonis Martin was born and bred in Boston, MA.

He is a pianist that brings with him to the jazz world, an eclectic style that encompasses gospel and R&B/soul with latin influences.

Adonis received a full Scholarship to study music at Berklee College of Music-there he majored in Music Business and Management and Music Education.

Martin Case-Producer
Saxophones, Percussion

Martin Case is a composer, producer, and performing musician. Martin specializes in creating and producing music and media for clients in dance, film and other cultural experiences, both live, online and in the studio. Martin’s client list includes the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Boston Ballet, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Harvard University, MIT, the Mark Morris Dance Group, and the Paul Taylor Dance Company.

The enduring theme of Martin’s work is to honor the musician’s function to create sacred sonic space for meditation, now/nothought, and sensuous enjoyment.

The nature of this work has taken Martin to the Middle East, West Africa, South America, Europe, and Asia.

Martin graduated from Berklee College of Music, and presently serves a variety of clients in creating music and media experiences.
